Meet Remington, my completely adorable crochet frog pattern, ready to hop on your hook!

Crochet green frog with yellow, orange, red and blue striped body

Made with color transitioning super bulky yarn this cute guy works up quick and is so fun to crochet!

Crochet green frog with yellow, orange, red and blue striped body

Sigh. Isn’t he JUST adorable?! He’s easy, fast and budget friendly because this cutie pie crochet frog is made with one Caron Chunky Cake in Rainbow Jellys color.

This guy is so easy to make. Just rewind your Caron Cake so that each color is in its own ball. The body is rainbow striped for those of you who love rainbows while the head and limbs use the traditional green.

You will only need to buy one Caron Chunky Cake to make Remington the frog in all his rainbow glory. I’m also including the yardage for each color segment you’ll need for the project. This will help you not run out of yarn if you decide to make any of my other rainbow cutie pies later.

If you’re wanting an all green frog, you can do that too; but you’ll have to buy a second cake to get all the green yarn you need. But if you love the rainbow vibe on his body, not only can you get this delightful little frog out of the one cake, but you very likely can make Ranger the crochet lion and Reagan the crochet bunny as well!

If you want to make all three of my rainbow cuties, be sure to check out this special priced collection that includes tips on getting all 3 amigurumi out of one yarn cake! Note: you can also purchase an ad-free version of just the frog. And of course the free version is below, if you’d prefer!

This crochet frog is such a fun crochet project. Because it’s made with Super Bulky weight yarn, the project goes really fast. The arms and legs are crocheted first and then they are crocheted right on to the body, eliminating the sewing on of limbs which can sometimes be tricky.

You can make this crocheted frog in an evening. He might just hop right into your heart!

Eyeballs (Make 2)

R3-4: sc around (12 st)

R4: *sc2tog.  Repeat from * around.  (6 st)  At end of round, carefully insert a safety eye between rows 3 & 4.  You may need to undo the last few stitches to fit the safety eye inside (and then redo them).  After the eye is in place, lightly stuff the eye and weave through the tops of the stitches and cinch closed, leaving a long strand for finishing.

Place the eyeball inside the eyelid and use the yarn strand to carefully take a stitch at the back of the eyeball and inside the back of the eyelid to hold the eyeball inside the eyelid.  Sew completed eye units onto head over rows 3 & 4 of the head, as shown in the photos.

For the mouth, take a long strand of green yarn and sew one large stitch across the face.  The stitch is between rows 8 and 9 on the head and goes over 12 stitches (on the sides it is just below where the eye is attached).

Pattern Note:  The arms and legs are made first, then crocheted in as the body is crocheted. From here on out the rest of the pattern is worked using the larger (K/6.50mm) hook.
