Be still my cold wintery heart because I have a brand new love.. this gorgeous crochet heart blanket! Friends, meet the Heart and Soul Baby Afghan!
I am really excited to introduce you to Gabriella, my niece and crocheter extraordinaire. She is the fabulous, brand new crochet designer behind this sweet Heart and Soul Baby Afghan. Most days Gabi is behind the scenes at Crochet 365 Knit Too where she helps upload photos, proofreads, monitors our Facebook and Pinterest presence and pretty much helps keep an eye on all things Crochet 365 Knit Too Universe.
Today I’m proud to debut Gabi’s very first design as a guest designer right here on Crochet 365 Knit Too! I’m SOOO excited! I’m completely in love with the hearts, ombre vibe, bobbles and lacey bits on this stunning baby crochet heart blanket. I could gush on forever, but I thought I’d let Gabi tell you more… so Gabi.. take it away….
Hi everybody! Gabi, here. So this baby blanket has been a long time coming for me. A labor of love, we’ll say. Too cheesy? Well, I just can’t help it!
Several years ago, my sisters and I decided to learn crochet. Word quickly spread to my aunt (aka Cheryl, the crocheter behind this lovely site). She immediately offered us girls some of her unused yarn that was “just sitting around”. Desperate for yarn, we eagerly accepted. Little did we know she would bring us SIX GARBAGE BAGS FULL of yarn! LOL!
Ok..ok… so maybe it wasn’t 6 of those ENORMOUS black garbage bags… but I distinctly remember several bags of yarn and pretty much feeling like we’d won the yarn jackpot! We really loved working that yarn into all sorts of creations!
Since then, I’ve been crocheting a lot of baby blankets to donate to NICUs and local pregnancy crisis centers. As I’ve improved as a crocheter, I’ve drifted away from following patterns and started designing my own. I found myself drawn to bobble stitch afghans, but none of them really spoke to me. They all seemed kind of bland and lacking the lacey girliness I envisioned. As soon as I spotted this pink Red Heart Ombre yarn, I was sold. It was almost my duty as a hardcore crochet baby blanket making obsessor… ahem, I mean enthusiast… to design this crochet heart blanket!
The Heart and Soul Baby Afghan makes me all shades of happy inside. As I crocheted, I loved watching each square transition from one shade of pink to the next. I connected the hearts with a granny style edging and then finished things off with row of beautiful bobbles and a lacey border. This crochet heart blanket is just perfect when you want a baby afghan that is bold and beautiful yet still very feminine.
I hope this Heart and Soul Baby Afghan brings you as much joy as it has brought me. Let’s get started!

OK, stop it, ya’ll. I can’t keep up! This is just the most adorable pattern ever and it has to be next on my list of projects (I’m in the middle of crocheting pocket shawls for daughters and granddaughters). How cute would it be to use heart squares as pockets!!! Oh my, I already planned to use Cheryl’s sunburst granny squares for pockets. You must have heard my husband groan all the way up in Michigan when I showed him the picture. Well thanks, gals, for sharing. You’re the best.
Have a blessed day.
Mary

I believe I found the perfect t blanket for my Doctor. She loves greens with a dash of purple. So this will be a way to Thank her for always being there for me. Beautiful pattern.
That sounds lovely!
Yikes. It took me a long time to get this one (just one of the squares) because I’m just beginning and apparently cannot count to 21. :p But I finally got one!
Haha I struggled with that a couple times too!
I love ombre yarn. I’ve used it to make flowers for my wreaths. Our anniversary is Saturday. #50! This will make a nice banner. Unfortunately my husband is in the hospital having had a cutting edge heart pump installed. This will brighten up his room if he is not discharged by tSaturday. NIce job Gabi. Cheryl I love your dog stories. Mine likes to chase the squirrels away from the bird feeders. They go up a tree and she runs up the hill and into the woods to greet them when they get home.
