A crochet lovey is such a fun crochet project when you’re welcoming a little one into your family.

Five crochet lovey patterns, including a bee crochet lovey, a sheep crochet lovey, a bunny crochet lovey, a puppy crochet lovey, and a fox crochet lovey.

Baby loveys are such adorable baby gifts, especially if you’re looking for baby shower gift ideas.

With these lovely gifts, you can change up the color palette to make in your favorite colors or match them to the baby’s gender.

Most of these patterns use a variety of basic crochet stitches, so make sure that you know how to work a single crochet stitch, double crochet stitch, and slip stitch (sl st). Since these great patterns won’t take a long time to complete, your cute crochet lovey is just a few steps away!

What is a Crocheted Lovey?

I love crochet loveys so much! The intent of a crocheted lovey is small blanket for little ones with a little bit of amigurumi to be used as a security blanket. These blankets should also be machine washable, given the nature of little ones’ accidents.

Most people make their lovey with some sort of amigurumi at the top, usually utilizing a favorite animal crochet pattern. In a way a crochet lovey is part amigurumi and part small blanket!

What Size Should a Lovey Be?

Loveies should be made pretty small, usually no more than 20 inches across. A lot of people use loveys instead of baby blanket crochet patterns when they have to travel with their little one and don’t want to pack a larger blanket. Crochet lovies to the rescue!

Crochet Lovey Patterns

Don’t worry, with these fun crochet patterns, you won’t have to make the whole crochet toy, usually just the head and arms suffice!

These crochet lovey blankets are absolutely adorable and I have a feeling you’ll love making them!

Miles the Moose Crochet Lovey

This moose lovey by Crochet with Gabriella Rose would make such a cute baby gift! You could easily make this match the nursery color scheme by just changing a few simple yarn colors.

I also love the simplicity of no facial features. It enables a little one to use their imagination, saves you a crochet step and eliminates any safety issues with eye parts.
