Making his late debut and practically missing Easter this year is the darling Mini Crochet Humpty Dumpty.  It’s no wonder he’s just about to topple over that wall and break his little noggin!Crochet Humpty DumptyThis cutie patootie is quick and easy to make up, starting with the ever so popular Easter Egg Pattern.  He also makes a nice addition to an Easter Basket that a little boy or girl would love.  Can’t you just see him popping out of the side of a basket?

It’s the perfect pattern for digging in your stash and pulling out those little bits that you always keep but never seem to know what to do with—which is exactly what I did!   The gold is leftover from Moxie Bear in my shops.  The rest?  I haven’t a clue.  But I think it all works together just fine!

If you don’t have tiny buttons, just embroider a couple of french knots using scrap yarn. Easy peasy.

The Mini Crochet Humpty Dumpty would also be a cute “I love you” gift anytime.  I’m not above giving him to an adult (or myself) for adorning my office space.  Seeing a cheerful bit of crochet brightens any long dreary day at work!

Here is what you will need:

  • US H8/5.00 mm crochet hook (here are my favorite crochet hooks)
  • Worsted Weight Yarn, 10-15 yards in white & blue, a few yards of brown and gold.  Scrap of rust or red yarn to embroider mouth.   I used yarn from my stash

Legs (make 2):

Note:  The limbs are a bit tricky because they are so small.  when changing color, I left a long strand and did not weave in.  Instead I pulled it tight and enclosed it within the finished limb when crocheting was complete. Do not stuff limbs.

How to Assemble Mini Crochet Humpty Dumpty:

The limbs are not stuffed.  Fold open end in half,  pushing any yarn ends to hide inside the limb.  Sew legs to bottom of Humpty Dumpty so he may sit.  They should be over rows 10 & 11 or wherever position enables your toy to “sit” properly.   The arms are sewn over the gold area of Humpty’s shirt.

Embroider mouth and sew on eyes.  Sew hat down on an angle on top of head.
