Be still my little spring heart because this crochet bluebird is flying in!

Meet Belinda Bluebird, quite possibly the cutest little crochet bird you’ve set your eyes on
Oh the sweet season of spring is my favorite. I love experiencing all of it. I love the moment when everything awakens from its winter slumber. The flowers and all the growing things bursting from the ground. The warm air and cheery sunshine and all the spring smells every time I go outside.
And the birds. I might just love them most of all. I love the sound of their singing back and forth, like a cheerful lullaby to my winter weary soul.

And the bluebird; the sweetest of the bunch with its rosy colored belly and beautiful blue everywhere else. Belinda, my sweet little crochet bluebird celebrates all of it!
She’s all kinds of beautiful. My birds are so fun and easy to make with plush yarn. This little crochet bluebird fits right into the mix with the crochet cardinal and crochet eagle. She comes together in an evening and then she’s ready for just about anything.
Make this darling crochet bluebird for a quick gift for young and old alike. Or just display her on a shelf just because it’s spring and you love her so!

For this project, I’m using Premier Parfait Chunky yarn which is a chenille style #6 super bulky weight yarn. Pop over to Herrschner’s for the best pricing or Amazon. If you can’t locate a color, this Etsy shop seems to stock them all and has pretty fast shipping.
The head and body is worked in 1 piece, starting with blue color yarn at the top of the head and then changing colors for the body. The tummy has a few extra stitches for the perfect amount of squish.
Like my other bird patterns, the details make all the difference when working with a bulky weight yarn. You’ll find the beak, feet, feathers have very few stitches, but very intentional placement. It’s so fun and quick to crochet these little elements.
Let’s crochet!
